Light of the Whole World
The rescuer had arrived! And the Father was ready to make the big announcement to some special people nearby.
But most people didn't notice that the Savior had been born. The town of Bethlehem was busy that night. People were focused on being registered for taxes. The world-changing events unfolding in a tumble-down stable in town never crossed their minds.
God decided not to announce the birth of His Son to the busy townsfolk. Instead, He chose a raggedy group watching the sky outside the town. The announcement would be glorious, fit for a King! But that's exactly who had been born. A king!
The group saw what no one else did that night. They saw Jesus!
God has given you His Word, so you can see what the shepherds saw that night. They saw Jesus! Turn your eyes upon Jesus!

The rescuer had arrived! The Father had a perfect way to mark the arrival of His Son.

Jesus is the Light of the Whole World.
The star shining in the night sky shined on Jesus. Jesus was going to be the Light of the Whole World. He would shine bright in a dark world, trapped in sin.
He came to be a friend of sinners: to rescue them and set them free.
The important people could not understand it. Jesus loved bad people? Why would He do that?
The important people did not realize that they were in darkness, just like the sinners. They needed the Light of the World to shine into their lives as well.
If you believe in Jesus, you can know the Friend of sinners: a Friend who shines light into the darkness of your life.
