Jesus had been announced as "the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world". John the Baptist even said that he was not important enough to even tie Jesus' shoelaces!
The King of All Kings had been born! He was the rescuer God had promised so long ago. The wise men had traveled months and months just to see Him and worship Him.
Far away from the little town of Bethlehem, men stared at the sky. They saw a bright new star shining down. They looked to each other and said, "He's Here!"
The rescuer had arrived! And the Father was ready to make the big announcement to some special people nearby.
God's people had waited a long time for the rescuer to arrive. They had returned home and rebuilt Jerusalem under Ezra and Nehemiah. Now, they hoped the rescuer would come to free them from the Romans.
God's people were still far from the promised land. Many were captives. Some lived in Babylon. Some in Persia.
God's people were living far from their home. The promised land was destroyed. Where was God in all of this?
Isaiah had prophesied about a world made right. But, first, things would be pretty difficult for God's people.
