Let's Go!

07/05/2020

Jesus had been announced as "the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world".  John the Baptist even said that he was not important enough to even tie Jesus' shoelaces!

But this great rescuer did not come to be served.  He came to serve.  So, He didn't march right into Jerusalem to be crowned as king.  Instead, He gathered a group of followers and began to teach them.

He showed them about God's amazing love for His people and prepared them to take the good news to the whole world!

Jesus' disciples didn't know then that He had come to live the life we should have lived and to die the death that we deserved.  He had so that, by faith in Jesus, people like you and me could become sons and daughters of God!

Intro

After being endorsed by John the Baptist as "the Lamb of God", Jesus goes to... the wilderness?

Jesus overcame the terrible liar!

Read the Story for Yourself!

Matthew 4

Take a sec to read the story directly from God's Word!  You can find it in Matthew 4.

A great way to read it is in the International Children's BIble (ICB) translation.  It's a simple and accurate Bible translation designed for kids.  Adults, like me, like it too!

Jesus overcame the terrible liar!

At His hungriest and most tired, Jesus beat back every temptation of the devil.  The terrible liar could not trick the God's Rescuer!

So, the rescue plan continued.  Jesus taught all over the place.  Crowds gathered to hear Him.  And Jesus started to tell some in the crowds, "Follow me!"  Soon, Jesus had brought together His twelve closest followers.  Through these men and other followers, Jesus would change the world.

The disciples learned what the terrible liar learned: Jesus was not just another normal human.  He was much stronger.  He knew God's loved Him and He would not run away from God's rescue plan.  He could not be tricked.  And He had power to make sad things come completely untrue.

But this Rescuer was not just strong.  He welcomed the weak and weary.  And He offered a new way of life to the thirsty, fearful, lost, and needy.

If you believe in Jesus, He will keep you day and night.  He is both strong and kind!
