Daniel and the Scary Sleepover

05/17/2020

Isaiah had prophesied about a world made right.  But, first, things would be pretty difficult for God's people.

The southern kingdom was all that was left.  After Hezekiah, most kings did not care about God.  And most people served fake gods instead.  No one seemed to listen to God's messengers, as they warned the people to stop.  If they did not turn away from their sin immediately, the promised land would be taken from them.

For the few people who followed God in this time, life was hard.  Life would get harder when many of them were taken into captivity to Babylon.  Years later, they would only hear about Jerusalem being completely destroyed and many of its people killed.

Yet, God was still working.  And God's promises gave those who followed Him the strength to go through even the hardest of times.

Intro

Jeremiah told the people about the coming fall of Jerusalem, but no one really listened.  Then, the young man Daniel was taken captive to Babylon, where he would serve many kings who didn't care about God.

Read the Story for Yourself!

Daniel 6

Take a sec to read the story directly from God's Word!  You can find it in Daniel 6.

A great way to read it is in the International Children's BIble (ICB) translation.  It's a simple and accurate Bible translation designed for kids.  Adults, like me, like it too!

You can be true to God even in an unfaithful world!

Daniel prayed to God.  He did not stop when he was being trapped.  He knew that being true to God was more important than obeying the law of the king.  Throughout his life, Daniel could have given in.  He could have given up on God.  Instead, he chose to be true to God.

Daniel always prayed three times a day.  Prayer helped Daniel love God and have the courage to follow God even when it was hard.

Prayer can help you be true to God, even in an unfaithful world!  You can pray the words of this song.  It's the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples to pray!
