God Makes A Way

03/22/2020

God's people were slaves in Egypt, but God had rescued them from slavery!  Though Pharaoh refused to listen to the first nine warnings, the tenth made him listen.  In all the land, every firstborn son died.  Pharaoh's own oldest son died.  But, God's people, things were different.  God told them to kill a lamb instead.  The lamb's blood was painted on the doorpost so that death would pass over the house.  No wonder they called it "Passover" as they celebrated it!

But the rescue of Passover points to an even greater rescue.  Not a rescue where many lambs would die in the place of sons of Israel, but a rescue where the lamb of God would die in our place!

Intro

After Pharaoh's son died, his only response to God's people was, "GET OUT!"  That very night, God's people grabbed their already-packed belongings and left.

Read the Story for Yourself!

Exodus 14

Take a sec to read the story directly from God's Word!  You can find it in Exodus 14.

A great way to read it is in the International Children's BIble (ICB) translation.  It's a simple and accurate Bible translation designed for kids.  Adults, like me, like it too!

QUIZ TIME!

Extra Time

God made a way for His people through the sea.  At the same time, He defeated Pharaoh's army and showed Himself to be the ONE true God!

Verse for the Week

Exodus 6:7

"God said, I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God."

Sample Prayer

Father God, you ARE the great rescuer.  No one else can save.  Thank you for the greatest rescue plan of all in Jesus.  Even in difficult times, help me to trust in you.                                                                                                                                   Amen.

God is the great rescuer.

In our lesson today, God showed His power over nature to rescue His people.  But that rescue points forward to a greater rescue in Jesus!

Jesus showed the same power over nature in His rescue mission.   His death, burial, and resurrection changed everything.   And He invited people like you and me to follow Him into a whole new way of life!

When life gets hard or does not seem to make sense, true stories like our lesson today remind us what to do.  We trust in the God of power and love.  And we follow His Son, Jesus!
